Henna Care Tips

When it comes to natural henna, there are a few things you can do to help enrich or maintain your stain. You’ll want to use a lemon and sugar mixture (2 lemons squeezed and strained in a bowl, and mix thoroughly with 2 tablespoons of sugar). The henna design will usually dry in 20-30 minutes.

· Once it’s dry, gently dab the lemon-sugar mix on the design with a cotton pad.

· Bridal Tip: for an extra boost, put 12-15 cloves on a pan and warm up the area of your design (in a safe distance) with the cloves steam for 10-15 minutes.

· Do not wash the design and keep the henna paste on for 4-8 hours. (Bridal henna should be left on for 8 hours).

· To remove the paste, avoid washing your hands as this can decrease the stain. Simply peel off the paste from your hands with a spoon.

· To get rid of any stickiness, apply baby oil and clean the area with a paper towel.

· For an enriched colour, apply Vicks Vapor Rub or Tiger Balm on the design.

· Avoid washing the design with soap and water when possible, as it will increase the fade.

The henna stain colour is orange in the beginning, and can develop to a deep to burgundy after 24-48 hours. The color of henna stain will differ from person to person as it largely depends on the individual’s body reacting to the henna and how well one takes care of henna.
